About Dialysis.sc
Dialysis.sc is a free, independent-of-treatment educational resource about kidney failure, dialysis and kidney care, written for Seychelles and the wider Indian Ocean.
It exists because the choice about how to treat kidney failure is usually made in a frightening week, with too much jargon and too little time, and because most of what is written about dialysis was written for somewhere else. The diet sheets assume potatoes and bananas rather than breadfruit and coconut. The travel guidance assumes you can drive to another unit. The local picture matters, and so far nobody has written it down.
Who it is for
Three groups of readers, with three different needs, and we try not to fudge the difference between them.
Our editorial standard
This is a health site, so the rules we hold ourselves to matter as much as the words. Here they are, in full.
We work from named sources, not from memory
Clinical content is built from published guidelines and primary sources: KDIGO, KDOQI, NICE, ISPD, the NIDDK, the National Kidney Foundation, Kidney Care UK, and, for the local picture, the Seychelles Ministry of Health. Clinical pages close with a Sources list, and every numeric claim is traceable to one of them.
We never invent a number, a place, or a price
No statistics we cannot cite. No facility names, addresses, phone numbers, opening hours, capacity figures or prices that we have not verified. If a figure is circulating online and we cannot trace it to a credible source, we will tell you that rather than repeat it.
We say when the evidence is weak, and when experts disagree
A great deal of dialysis practice rests on weak evidence or on expert opinion rather than trials, and guideline bodies do not always agree with each other. Where that is true, we say so instead of picking the tidier answer. An honest "this is contested" is more useful to you than a confident sentence that is only half earned.
When something is not published, we say so and tell you who to ask
The clearest example is visitor dialysis in Seychelles. There is no publicly available, authoritative statement of whether the renal unit takes visiting patients, on what terms, at what price, or with what lead time. We will not guess at it. Instead we give you the lead times and paperwork that are well established, and the exact questions to put to the unit yourself.

This site is educational. It does not diagnose, it never gives drug doses, and it never tells anyone to start, stop or change a treatment. We do not book, provide or arrange dialysis, and we are not a clinic. We do not publish paid placements dressed up as editorial content, and we do not recommend particular providers.
Articles are researched and drafted with AI assistance against that sourced substrate, and reviewed before publication. Clinical pages carry a last-reviewed date so you can see how current they are. Guidelines change, and when they do, we change with them.
Who publishes this
Dialysis.sc is published by the Chemtech Group, which has equipped renal units in the Indian Ocean since 1985. Its healthcare arm is Medtech.
We disclose that openly, at the top of the page rather than the bottom, because you should know who is talking to you about your kidneys. What it means in practice is that the people behind this site have spent a long time around renal units in this part of the world. What it does not mean is that this site sells you anything, books your dialysis, or recommends a provider. It does not, and it will not.
Tell us when we are wrong
We would rather be corrected than be trusted while wrong, and on a health site that is not a polite formula. If something here is out of date, unclear, or simply not true, please tell us.
